Michael Landy - San Gennaro

Open until Apr, 12 2025 Art Lovers is a collaborative exhibition between Michael Landy and Gillian Wearing held at Thomas Dane Gallery, Naples. Featuring new work which responds to the city and its history, the show also exhibits work spanning the artists’ relationship over the last 3 decades.

One of the new works in the show is the dynamic sculpture ‘San Gennaro’ by Michael Landy. Working with MDM throughout the series of work to which the sculpture belongs; Saints Alive, the work demonstrates the demise of the patron saint of Naples. MDM fabricated the painted fibreglass sculpture, featuring a reclaimed vintage mechanism to allow blood to be pumped out of the decapitated head by the audience through the push of a pedal.
